The Vestry of St. James Church...
Vestry Requirements and Responsibilities
*Attend monthly Vestry meetings on the fourth Thursday of the month at 5:00 pm.
*Be familiar with the Core Values, Mission and Goals of Saint James' Episcopal Church.
*Serve a three-year term.
*Has been faithful in corporate worship, and in working, praying, and giving for the spread of
the Kingdom of God.
*Participate in one vestry committee: Ministry, Administration, or Property.
*Assist in financial and administrative decisions.
*Serve as Vestry person of the Day and Counter on Sundays.
*Attend a Vestry retreat.
*Attend a 3-hour Safeguarding God's Children training.
*Attend a 3-hour Safeguarding God's People training.
(The next Safeguarding God's People training is TBA in the Parish Hall. )
*Agree to the Diocese of Texas' Policy Prohibiting Sexual Harassment.
*Attend to concerns, questions, and requests that are directed to the Vestry by the congregation, staff, and community.
*Subscribe to the following declaration required by the canons of the Episcopal Diocese of
"I am persuaded that the Holy Scriptures contain all doctrine required as necessary for
salvation through faith in Jesus Christ; and I accede to the Doctrine, Discipline,
and Worship of the Protestant Episcopal Church."
Vestry Nominations officially closed at the end of the day on October 15th. It is my pleasure to present to you the slate of nominees for the incoming 2020 vestry class. I am very grateful to all three of these very capable and enthusiastic individuals for putting their names forward. I would also like to offer thanks to those outgoing vestry members who served as this year's nominating committee and who helped secure these nominations. This year, because we have the same amount of nominees as positions to be filled, we will hold a vote by acclamation at our annual parish meeting on January 12th in lieu of holding an election on October 27th. Meet the Nominees...
Barbara Cauble grew up in Florida and Texas. She has a Masters degree in education from the University of Houston and a seminary degree from Houston Graduate School of
Theology, and she taught high school English and Spanish.
She is a Stephen Minister and a member of Community of Hope. She was a lay chaplain with the Harris County jail for seven years.
Barbara started the prayer shawl ministry at St James and is a member of the choir and the pastoral care committee. She has been a member of St James for five years.
William W. (Bill) Rugeley
I was raised in Wharton, Texas. I was raised in St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Wharton. Active as an acolyte until leaving for college. I graduated from Wharton High School and attended junior college there where I received an Associate of Arts degree. I attended the University of Texas for one year and joined the Air Force Reserve. I returned to Sam Houston State University to earn a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree. I worked for Dow Chemical for one year. In the following three years I worked as Administrator of Medical Arts Clinic (a group of three medical doctors) in Huntsville, Texas. Following this, I attended Texas A&M where I received a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Doctor of Veterinary Medical Degree. Moving to Weimar, I bought a veterinary clinic where I practiced for forty years. I am involved in the Weimar community; Lions Club, past president and Board of Directors. I am active in the Chamber of Commerce, and the Weimar Independent School District. I have also served and an active member of the Bluebonnet Veterinary Medical Association. I served 6 years in the U. S. Air Force Reserve, receiving an honorable discharge. I am married to Ann and we like to travel.
Tom Tracy was born and raised in the Chicago area and lived in Houston for 35 years. He received a degree in Business Administration from Marquette University, then served two years active duty as an officer in the US Army, one year in South Viet Nam. He retired 3 years ago from a career in industrial process control systems and then commercial property management. Tom is active in the Men's Club, an Usher, and LEM.
