Hello St. James' Families!

May is here, and before we know it, we'll be moving right along into summer! I wanted to give you all some important announcements and dates for the upcoming weeks. Here is a basic rundown  of the special events and activities so there are no surprises!:

*May 7-11 is Teacher Appreciation Week.
While the teachers don't expect gifts or anything, having the kids draw a special picture or sing a song for them is always a nice way to say thanks!

*Tuesday, May 8, we will have a field trip AFTER SCHOOL to the Randolph Rec Center for a mini-gymnastics lesson. You may pick up your child a little early from school and head over there to start stretching at 3 pm. The lesson will end about 3:50. ALL St. James' Preschool students are welcome to attend, and this will be exclusively for us! Parents must transport children to/from the Rec Center, as we are not allowed to transport the children. Carpooling is OK if we have a note from the parent authorizing pickup! Parents may stay, or drop off and come back by 3:50.

*Sunday, May 13, is Mother's Day!
Call your Mom, and enjoy a day for yourself too!
Wednesday, May 23 is the LAST DAY OF SCHOOL. It will be a regular school day with regular hours.

*Thursday, May 24 is our Graduation and Moving Up ceremony at 10 am.
ALL students will be honored and recognized, and they are preparing special music for this happy occasion. Please make plans to attend, and invite family and friends. The ceremony will be in the Sanctuary, with a reception following in the Parish Hall. More information will follow in coming weeks.

Right after Graduation/Moving Up, we will have an end of year party and "
Going Away Party" for the Elliott family. Please join us to wish them well in their new ministry in Phoenix. We will also bid farewell to the Carreon family, as Carlos will be taking a job in Austin at a new church.
Two trees will be available to write encouraging notes for each family, and you may leave money for their missions if you wish.

Finally, make a note of all the summer birthdays (
on the menu calendar) we have at St. James' Preschool, and don't forget to wish these kiddos a happy early birthday before we are out of school!

Thank you all for your attention to these important dates and events. We will try to keep you informed regularly as we go, of everything happening each week. As always, if you have any questions, feel free to call, email, or text me at 214-477-6582.

St. James’ Episcopal Preschool began in 2000 as a Parent’s Day Out program with church member, Cathy Engel, as the founder and leader of the program. The program operated one morning a week in the fall semester. The spring semester brought a need for a program two mornings a week. In August of 2001, St. James’ became a licensed facility after much hard work by the church’s Day School Committee. Parents now had the option of a Parent’s Day Out that was available five mornings a week. The pattern of growth and development continued with the 2002-2003 school year. In the fall of 2013, the preschool decided to offer our programs for both classes five mornings a week. In the fall of 2016, the preschool will offer a full day program in addition to our half-day program. Part-time and full-time options are available depending on the program for which the child is eligible.

Throughout this period of growth, the fundamental principles of the school have been to provide a nurturing, spiritual, developmental program for our communities’ children and families. We have evolved into a preschool program for our older preschoolers, and we have retained our Parent’s Day Out component to serve toddler-age children.

St. James' Episcopal Preschool is a licensed, half-day and whole-day Christian preschool in the Episcopal Diocese of Texas, serving children ages 2 years to 5 years of age.

The mission of St. James’ Episcopal Preschool is to provide a strong Christian and Academic Foundation for preschool age children in a loving, nurturing, family-oriented environment so that they are prepared to be successful grade school students with a love of learning, and the knowledge that Jesus loves them.

Each child is a unique creation of God. Young children are curious by nature. They are excited and eager to participate in activities that encourage hands-on experiences. The environment at our preschool is safe, positive, and supportive. We believe in offering full and rich opportunities to develop in each child a love for God, self-esteem, responsibility, and a readiness for life-long-learning that is appropriate to each child.
